Looking for Ms. Right! PDF Print E-mail

I am currently looking online to meet my new other half.  I have accounts at Eharmony, Match.com, and Yahoo Personals.  I am looking for a younger woman, but not terribly younger.  I like the idea of compatibility testing and personality matching, but we all know that a lot of that goes out the window when we see the potential partner's pictures.

When I first started reading profiles, I was surprised by how many women in their 40's and 50's were looking for YOUNGER men.  Is this something that has changed, or is it just that I am looking at a different age group now?  In my younger years, women seemed to be generally more interested in older men.

In any case, I am 61 and primarily interested in women from the late 30's to the middle 50's.  Is that wrong?  I have always been younger looking than my actual age, and mentally and emotionally I have also been younger than my years (still am).  Physically, I can still do a slow jog on a treadmill for more than 20 minutes straight, and walk as far as I want to.  I've had some health problems, but there is nothing that is currently slowing me down .  I believe I am a little unique in all of this.

Where I believe I am even more unique is in my attitude towards women and relationships in general.  Call it the opposite of "macho," but I look for total equality between partners in a relationship.  Honesty, respect, and integrity should be mutual.  At the same time, the partnership should be a single entity with no importance placed on who makes the most money or has the most intelligence.  The partnership is larger than the sum of its parts.

What Now? PDF Print E-mail

Now that I have upgraded the site to the latest version of Joomla!, I have to ask myself what I really want to do with Desautel.net.  I have my blog site up and running at boomer-blog.com, my political discussion site at reverse-spin.com, my semi-commercial photo site at photosrfree.com, and I will be adding my poetry site at mylifeinapoem.com.  These are all sites that are physically located in sub-directories at desautel.net, but I own the domain names which point directly to the appropriate sub-directory.

I have had desautel.net up for many, many years as a personal site, mostly about myself and my late wife Karen.  After Karen passed away in November of 20o6, and after I moved my site from being self-hosted to a hosting provider (bluehost), I intended desautel.net to be center for people & families with the Desautel surname (or any of the other derivatives - Desautelle, Desautels, DeSautel, etc.).  I wanted them to be able to talk about their family and relatives, find interesting information about other Desautels, and so-on.  As you can tell from the site, this has not taken off like I hope.

The Upgrade is Complete! PDF Print E-mail

It seems that I have been able to upgrade this site to the latest version of the Joomla! CMS.  Not too difficult, but it did take me a while to restore the database so the the Joomla! installation could convert it.  I still have to make some changes, and mess around with the fancy stuff, but for now I have settled on this nice site template, which comes free from the good folks at SiteGround (see their links at the left and the bottom).

I have also upgraded my blog site (The Boomer Blog - on the main menu at the left) to the latest version of the B2evolution blog software.  I have a new political discussion board (liberal) site, called The Reverse SPIN, up and running, a semi-commercial photography site called Photos R Free, and I'm working on getting my poetry back online with a site called My Life in a Poem.

This is all made possible by the Open Source community who provide all the great software that I am using (plus some I've paid for).  The Internet runs on Open Source, which is as it should be!

I've upgraded my content management software from Joomla 1.0 to the 1.5 version. This requires new templates and everything else. I was able to convert the content, but look and feel is starting from scratch again. So consider this site under construction again! Dave

Bogus Users Registering on this SIte? PDF Print E-mail

I have been getting a constant stream of users registering here that do not seem to have anything to do with the name Desautel. They register with minimal information, and they all have email addresses at gmail.com. None of them have ever contacted me, or responded to my email to them. I have been deleting these users, except for one that I gave author privileges to (to see if they would post something).  This is happening with increasing frequency.

If you register here, please use the "Contact Us" link and let me know who you are.

Thanks,

Dave
